We celebrated Record Store Day 2016 with releasing our free 3-song sampler CD, which features tracks from our upcoming record "We are Still". Our LP is currently being pressed at Capsule Labs, which is also where it was Mastered in analog form. The 3-song sampler CD is available at London, ON's independent record stores "Grooves Record Store" and "The Village Idiot". You may also stream the new tracks on our Soundcloud profile: https://soundcloud.com/cordcalling We had fun on CHRW Radio's (94.9 FM)"Saturday Morning with Howie Zowie" this morning, on which we described our recording process and aired one of our new recorded tracks, "The Blinds". We'll make the interview available once it is uploaded to the CHRW Radio archives.
We are excited to have completed the 2-day analog mixing sessions with EMAC Recording Studios for the first six songs of our album. It really was a refreshingly creative and fun approach to this stage in the recording process. Since we recorded these songs analog onto 2 inch tape, we found that the natural progression in the evolution of the tracks was to stay true to this pure approach and to remain in the non-digital realm. We are using all sorts of cool old gear, including compressors and equalizers. Our head engineer, Matt Grady, gratefully pointed out that our album has been forcing him (in a good way) to use the most analog gear that he has ever used on an LP. It has been an insightful journey for all of us involved. We're able to hear the sonic differences that outboard effects and tape bring to the music - most notably, warmth, atmosphere, and character - in comparison to modern widely-used digital techniques . We are all pleased with the way that the mixes have helped shape our vision for these six songs. For now, we are saying goodnight to the tape while it rests in storage until it is awakened at a later time to be compiled with another set of brand new tunes for our full-length vinyl record. Keepin' the dream alive!
We've now had our first couple of sessions of recording our new songs onto 2 inch tape at EMAC Recording Studios in London, ON!
It is such as experience. We love the warm, full sound that the tape brings to the recording. The engineers even said they liked the smell and feel of the tape! There' s more time to breathe and reflect when recording the "old school" way for which we are grateful. We're learning that, the more advanced technology gets, the more it can actually increase our busyness and stress level. Hence, we are loving this "new" old way of working on this record.
We are now in the process of working on some more songs and preparing for future recording sessions. We will keep you updated on our journey towards pressing our fresh ideas and passions onto vinyl. It will take a while...but, we believe, it is well worth it!
We've been working on creating and performing new original songs over the past few months and have now taken the next step! We've booked a couple of days of studio time to lay down some tracks onto 2 inch tape at EMAC Studios in London, ON in Dec., 2013. It's an exciting time for us! Thanks to our friends, family, and fans for the support that you have given to us over the years. We're working hard at and excited about getting some fresh material out to y'all!
We have entered into a creative mode during the past couple of months, as we've been working on birthing some new material to be included on our next album! It is a reflective and exciting time, since we're able to focus on new visions and fresh ideas. We are planning to record and mix an all-analog album, with a vinyl record being the final product. We just thought we'd post this to let our fans and supporters know that we are still hard at work, but also having a blast, creating new original music, which we are looking forward to sharing with all of you! Thanks again for all of your encouragement and love!
